The Byakko Shotokan Karate Association (B.S.K.A) is a member of the English Karate Federation (EKF). BSKA aims to offer progressive karate training, based on constant improvement and refinement, comparable to the best available training in the UK. The Association routinely holds courses with some of the World’s top instructors for the benefit of all its members. With our passion and commitment for maintaining the highest standards of instruction, and with the correct individual dedication we hope to inspire you to achieve the highest standards and understanding of Shotokan Karate.

James Scanlon has been training in Karate since he was six years old. He has committed to years of training and competition and achieved a Black Belt at the age of 11.James has been in the England A Squad since 2009. He is currently the only member in the squad from North Yorkshire. James trains locally throughout the week and at weekends trains and competes at venues throughout the country. He makes the most of every opportunity for additional training with Dave Hazard and Wayne Otto and would hope to represent his country at some stage.–Paul Scanlon - Parent
